Running SetiSPY and SetiDriver

I jumped on the Seti bandwagon today. I am currently running the CLI version using the SetiDriver and also SetiSPY for the stats. Is there any way to only show SetiSPY running? I would only like one icon in my sytem tray, and I would prefer it to be the SetiSPY icon. Is this in any way possible? Thanks.

Welcome to the Team! 😀 Maybe you would like to use SetiDriver for the cacheing and set up to use Orange Kid's proxy for stats (and additional cacheing). I just started today, with some help from Sukhoi... here's an example of stats at OK's and clicking the User History leads to more stats. Clicking each completion time leads to stats on each WU completed!.

To do this, set SETIDriver to use orangekid.teamanandtech.com and port 5001, then increase your cache by at least one WU so SETIDriver gets a WU from Orange Kid's proxy. Now you can fetch/flush WU's through OK's. 😀

I think there is also a way to install SETIDriver as a service... I'll try to hunt down that info for you.... edit: here is Sukhoi's SETI-help thread with tons of info including 9x/Me/NT/2k SETI service installs but that doesn't really help with installing SETIDriver as a service... 🙁 Maybe someone else will have a suggestion!

If you run SETI driver as service in your Win2K, then you'll not see any icon for SETI Driver at all in your system tray. I've been running SETI Driver in some of my Windows 2000 without a problem. You need to log in as administrator to properly install it as a service. Sukhoi's SETI help thread have links to my Win2K zip files that install SETI Driver as service. Just make sure to replace the user_info.sah.😉

I use OK's proxy to monitor my SETI progress. I haven't use SETI SPY. It's been my experience that maximizing SETI output usually means not running any other program unless you really have to - like when you're working.🙂

😎Welcome to the team!🙂

IsOs: Are you using the one you posted? It seems as though there is a problem with Sukhoi's Win2k Service install through browsing his thread.

i just set up my setidriver to use the ok proxy. will i not see my results until after i've turned in my first wu, or until ok uploads info? also, will the wu's i had previously stored with setidriver be automatically uploaded through the proxy?

Tetsuo316,

OK's proxy is almost transmitting to Berkeley 24/7, but seems like Berkeley is having some problem to update user's info at this moment. What's your SETI user name? You may check at OK's proxy and see if they are sumitted properly.

<<also, will the wu's i had previously stored with setidriver be automatically uploaded through the proxy?>>

Yes, they will be sent to OK's proxy and you will be credited also.

Since you already have workunits downloaded using your current SETI Driver setup, I would suggest that you move the numbered subdirectories into C:\WinNT\System32\Sah (this is where my seti driver installation resides) before you start the SETI Driver service (or reboot). Also, copy your existing user_info.sah to this subdirectory. You can then delete your old SETI Driver subdirectory and any link that applies to this.

Or you can refer to this thread and make the necessary modifications, then you can actually just use your existing SETI Driver setup in creating a service.

I'm not using SETISpy so I don't have any knowledge about its installation.
