Running question..

I ran last night and now my legs are sore (not suprising). Should I give my legs a day or two to "get better" or can I still go ahead and run tonight?

I find that if I run every day, my legs just get more and more sore. I usually give my legs a day to recover. Then after a few days of running every other day, I give myself two days to recover.

i have never heard of giving it a day off. you were outta running shape and so you built up too much lactic acid in your muscles so it made you sore. continued running is just going to help the situation.

Hmm..maybe I should still run tonight then. 😕

It's also possible he pulled or strained a muscle,a day off where he exercises other muscle groups might be prudent.

If you're running for the heck of it, just rest a day. If you're running to get buff, run again. I run 5 days in a row, and rest on the weekend. I'm getting in shape for racing. If you're looking to get fast, just bite the bullet and go for it, unless it hurts more than its sore.

Not for the heck of it. Get buff/lose weight.

If he pulled or strained a muscle, he wouldn't be feeling it a day after.

My left quad is a bit sore, and my left hamstring is a bit sore, but nothing painful really. If I sit on the ground with my left leg outstretched and then bend down, touching my head to my knee I can feel the slight pain.

It's all up to you man. The more you run, the better you will get, but if your legs are too sore to run well, it won't do any good. Listen to your body. If they're just a little sore due to lactic acid build-up (the tight achey kind of sore) then running again and stretching well after the next run will make them feel better. But if a pulled-muscle type of sore, then you should ice your legs and let them rest a day or so. You never ever want to run with an injury, whether it be a decapitation or a simple strained muscle. It leads to very bad things.
