Running ps2 though htpc

im building an htpc so i can it though my projector, and i would really like to play ps2 on my projector..but it only has vga input like a regualr monitor, should i plug my ps2 into the htpc and then the htpc into the projector?

would i see lag? are there any tv turner cards out there where i wont see any lag..

or would i be better off getting RCA to VGA converter and running it directly into the projector?

thanks

Please search; this gets asked a *lot*.

Best quality and minimal lag will be to use a component->VGA transcoder (a so-called "VGA Box") and running the PS2 through that.

You can run through a tuner card in an HTPC. Quality will be good, but you will probably get a few frames of lag on the output (which is fine for slower games like RPGs, but will be incredibly frustrating for action games like shooters, platformers, or fighting games). A software-encoding card with proper settings will minimize lag, but sometimes you can't eliminate it entirely.
