Running OS X on a firewire drive

Is it possible to load and run OS 10.3 on a firewire drive? I've heard that it is, but I want to make sure before we go out and get one for our developer.

Yes, it is possible. I know many people that do it. I have an external Macally 40gig, but I didnt put an OS on it because I just use it for back up.

If I put the hard drive into a computer and installed the OS, would the hard drive give me any problems if I moved it to the external case after the install?

No, you wont experience any problems. That is actually what I am planning to do. I am buying a 120+gig 7200 RPM 8mb cache hard drive for my computer. It will go in my computer. I will take out the current drive, which is a 40 gig and stick it into an external firewire case. Then I will have a 120gig internal drive, and two external 40 gigs for back up. 🙂
