Hi,

I've been told that one can run an operating system from a CD.

Does anyone know how to set up such a CD?

Thanks

bump for an interesting question. It is possible, some of those internet appliances ran from a cd i'm pretty sure. I don't know how you could set something like that up, but it'd be neat to know.

Running Windows would be really hard to do, unless it was a version of CE which might be possible.

But any unix can be done really easily.

windows can be done, but its hard. you have to set up a ramdrive for the windows directory since the registry must be writable. then you'll get dozens of errors on boot but it will work. c't has an article on windows-from-cd somewhere.
