Running old school 3D games, like GL Quake

Hey, I know this might sound silly to a lot of people, but I was int the mood for some goold old-fashioned GL Quake. No wI have a modern graphics card, a pretty good one actually (ATI Radeon 9800 Pro AGp 256 MB), and I was trying to run GL Quake, but couldn't. It gave me a could not find glide2x.dll error. So I searched for glide2x.dll on google.com and downlaoded the file to my WINDOWS/SYSTEM directory, and then it gave me some othe rrando errors. How do I run htis awesome classic game on my coputer? Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!!!!!!

What drivers are you running? Might I suggest you download the lastest Omega Radeon Drivers (omegacorner.com) and try those if you haven't already. They come with OpenGL drivers.

You must have some ancient install where you once used a 3dfx card. Glide is the 3dfx API. Look for an "opengl32.dll" somewhere within the quake directory or subfolders. Rename the file by removing the ".dll" extension so you disable it. Then try again.

Also, if you still like quake, search on google for tenebrae. It's a 3rd party quake engine update that looks modern. You can even play multiplayer against other computers running the old quake.

You can also try for some Glide wrappers. These wrappers can emulate Glide functions on any D3D video card.

Which would you recommend out of those? I'm going to try firing up Diablo II and Quake 2 to test a few of them out.
