To be totally honest, most DC apps don't talk to the hard drive that much. Also, running a harddrive 24/7, without it turning on/off is actually better for the drive, as it's life is measured in cycles, rather than x hours. Also, when running it from a RAMdrive, if you lose power for whatever reason, then any work you've done is lost. You can set it to save the state of the drive to the HDD every now and then, but then it will be defeating the purpose of a RAMdrive in this case, which is to try to reduce the work done by the hdd. This has been discussed many times in the past, and it is generally felt that there is no point in running from a RAMdrive, as if you lose power, you've lost much more work than you may gain by running it from a ramdrive!
