Running Laptop 24/7 Under Stress

Hey, I have two Dell Latitude CPx500GT laptops, (500 Mhz PIII, 256MB RAM) and I was wondering if I had anything to worry about with setting these up to run 24/7 to crunch Folding@Home workunits. Do I have to worry about it overheating or fire hazards, or should I be fine?

You're fine! The worse thing that could happen is that it will slow down when the cpu temp is too high or crash. And all you need to do is reboot and you're fine again.

I know that on a modern laptop the processor will throttle, however these laptops are about 5 years old. I was also wondering about 2 more modern Gateway Solos, with Celeron-M processors. Should I remove the batteries to reduce the amount of heat, or is it insignifigant in the grand scheme of things?
