Running Instant Messenger Off CD

Anyone know if its possible to run AOL Instant Messenger off a CD (ie. extract all the installation files to the CD), in order to be able to run the program without installing it on a computer? I'm not able to install programs on my computer at work, so was wondering if there was a way around this.

If there isn't, do yall know of any web-based programs that allow you to run AOL IM. AOL Express wont work. I've seen a few MSN messenger ones but thats it.

Just an idea... Could you not install the messenger program onto a USB Thumb drive or something similar?

Granted it would cost you money but it might be a load easier than what you're attempting now. Although CD's are cheap and if you waste a few with experiments that fail, you arent losing much but if my solution didnt work... you'd lose more.

here you go!

. It uses very little memory and requires no installation. Just unzip and run! This also makes it ideal for users that want to run their messenger client from a removable storage such as an USB memory stick. It can even be stored on a floppy disc if not too many plugins are used.

Very nice find. That seems to be very useful. Perhaps I should pop that on my memory stick for university.

Yeah but I wasnt lazy. I visited the link and read a little. As I said, very nice find. Just hope it works as good as it sounds.

hey..thanks alot. I'm not sure if this will work yet but by the looks of it it should cause like it says, there's no install. I'm gonna try it at work tomorrow. We have a ton of down time at my job where there's nothing to do for long stretches of time, so this would definitely help me keep my sanity.

If this doesnt work for whatever reason, I'll try the thumbdrive solution.....thanks guys for that recommendation too.

Well Miranda IM wouldnt work. I get this error message when I try to create a profile:

Error Message

Guess eventually I'll try the thumbdrive, other than that, back to the drawing board.

try creating the profile on a machine, then after you have it set up like you want, copy and paste the miranda folder over to the cd.
