running ftp server behind proxy

I just moved into a new place that has internet provided, via wireless DSL. Only problem is that the whole aparment complex is on a proxy that I have no control over. Is there anyway to run my ftp server behind this, or am I going to have to contact my service provider and beg them to asign the port to my machine (which I'm pretty shure they won't do!!!)

Am I screwed??

the problem would be their proxy, find out who runs the proxy, (your appartment complex or your ISP)
contact them and they should be able to tell you if they are willing/capable to do it for you...

behind their proxy, they hold the keys....
