my friend wants to get FEAR and I'm not sure if he will be able to run it.

his current system is:

AMD Athlon 64 3400+
1 GB DDR PC 3200 RAM
FX5500 video card

Anyone running FEAR with this type of setup? Can he run at 1024x768 resolution? Can he play it at all?

i think the video card is going to hold him back a good bit, but i'm not sure.

It's doubtful. I'd think you would need at least a 256-bit bus card for it. I tried it on a machine with similar specs with a 9800xt with all options on low at 1024 and it was a slideshow (well, below 25 FPS, but that's a slideshow to me, especially in a shooter.)

The video is the killer. It ran poorly on my rig in my sig until I updated to the latest Nvidia drivers, but it screams nicely at 1280 on my new 30 X2/2GB/7800GT rig. He's prolly gonna need a new card to have a shot - try the 6600GT as a budget option - but no way is 1024 gonna happen.

Also, try the demo - that'll give you a hint.
