Running ethernet in the house

All of our home network switches/routers are in our basement, so I was able to easily run ethernet through various parts of the basement.

However, we need to get some ethernet from the basement up to the 2nd floor bedrooms and there's no visible/good path to get up there.

So I've accepted that we're going to have to tear into some walls. There's a wall between the master bathroom and the kitchen that seems like it would be easy to access and work with. My idea is that we cut out 4"x16" segments out of the drywall just enough to be able to fish the wire up through the wall. 16" so that we can screw drywall back in on the studs. That should come up near one of the bedroom closets, which I could then do the same to get the wires up to the attic space.. where I can then run them over to each bedroom and drop down into the walls.

thoughts? anybody have any tips? We need to get this done, we're already doing drywall work in the basement and will be painting.. so it won't be a big deal to patch the walls up.

I was able to drop a line along the chimney from the attic and reach the basement. Tie a screw or something similar for weight. From there we tied romex and pulled from the electrical panels, dropped into second floor walls into new outlets. If you have a vent stack for plumbing or something similar, you can try there too.

Why Ethernet in the second floor bedroom? Why not put a Wi-Fi booster/AP up there and be done with it?
