Hey!

I was looking into getting a dual AMD motherboard but only have one Athlon right now. Can I run it with just one and a loopback plug or something in the second socket? That is until I can afford another Athlon.

Thanks,

i suppose you can check specs on a the specific motherboard you are interested in, but as far as i know they are all able to run with only one processor (i don't think you need anything in the second socket)

i know the tyan mp (and im sure the others) run just fine with one processor
you dont need to do anything to the other socket

if you dont want to reinstall win2k when you add the 2nd processor, when installing choose the multiprocessor kernel (press F5 to get the menu)
