what kinda fps should i expect to see? here is the rig:

ecs k7s5a
950 duron
256mb pc100
6.4gb 5400rpm wd
win2000 w/sp3
32mb gf2 gts-v (det 41.09)

i've run 1024x768 under opengl and in dust2... i dont seem to be breaking the 60fps barrier. i have fps_max set to 99. i lowered my resolution to 800x600 and i still can't break the 60fps mark. i do not have AA or AF enabled. right now, the only possible thing i can think of is that i am running 32bit color. i guess i will try 16bit color tomorrow, but in the meatime, i am wonder what kinda fps to expect with a gts-v... anyone got an idea?

Well, I don't have a GTS-v, but I had about the same setup as you with a Kyro II and I was stuck at 100fps at 1024x768x32.

have you got v-sync enabled? Since you're running in Open GL under 2k, then the 60hz refresh rate on your monitor will probably come into play, and if you have v-sync enabled, then your frame rate will only be able to go as high as your refresh rate. Get a refresh rate override, and disable v-sync and you might see some improvement. Did you try under Direct 3d? It should give you 75fps if you do.

don't dissable v-sync unless you are blind to the artifacts of out of sync rendering.

Ok; oops. It's the Rivatuner utility. I'd think that a Lifer would know of it.;):)
j/k

File link
Decompress the files to c:\rivatuner or whatever you want; run Rivatuner.exe. It'll build registry databases, then go to the main program window. There will be 2 small blinking triangles; click on the bottom one. Select the "60Hz" icon with a screwdriver through it. Click the little checkmark icon to select everything; then click the >> icon, then Install, then allow it to restart. That should do it.
