hey guys, i had a question reguarding running counter-strike on an older computer. I just want to get it to run cs on a normal level nothing too great.

I got an old HP system. a quick run down of the specs are
p3-450mhz
17gb HD
Pc-100 128mb
4x cd burner
onboard video but has a 2x agp slot.

^ at those specs no CS is remotely close

but say if i threw in
3xxmb of ram 3 sticks of 128mb pc100 ( all the ram the system can handle)
put in my geforce2 mx 400 64mb
possble upgrade to a 5400rpm HD or 7200RPM

I can't really upgrade the cpu/board/case but i figure if i threw it in like that would i be able to play CS decent enough. on 800x600

i did it with a athlon 850mhz, geforce4, 128mb.

edit*
so would this even be worth my time?

I had a friend who ran CS on an HP system almost identical to yours. He didnt have to upgrade anything. I was blown away that it actually ran. There are craploads of artifacts on some levels (still playable) but others run fine. I imagine if you do those upgrades you would be able to get it working reasonably. I am sure someone else will be able to offer better advice then I though.
