Running both Seti and UD client without performance loss??

On my new AMD 64 system (3000+ running @ 2,21Ghz) I'm running Seti as well as United Devices at the same time.
When I check Task Manager, both are at ~50% cpu power.. The weird thing is, a Seti wu still takes about 2hrs to complete!

I checked the seti times from 30 wu's, first 10 without UD running and the last 20 with UD running, there isn't a minute difference between those cpu times..
Double checked it with Seti Spy which says that the instantaneous performance is about 48%/hour..

The UD client also completes a wu in a normal time, even the rating is staying normal while it benchmarks the cpu! :)
(UD counts in points given to different parts of the system like cpu, memory, HD space and internet connection)
Because the client runs @ 50% I should expect a drop of 50% in the score but it doesn't.. :)

Anyone know whats happening?? I don't have HyperThreading on my AMD :p but it sure looks like it! :D

Check the "real" time for he seti wu's Yes it says 2hrs to complete but in reality it took four hours to complete. The 2hrs is CPU time. you probably are getting 6 per day vice 12 per day;)

Don't know much about UD but it is probably under the same situation.

You have to compare a full days results of each running seperately and then a full day together. Then compare the totals for each day. You will see that running togethor halves your production on each.:)

No...they don't! :)

HyperThreading is Intel only...you might be getting confused with HyperTransport, also known as HT, which is their "FSB" :)

And, what you'll be seeing is that the Seti WUs are taking the same amount of CPU time, but the actual time will be 4 hours, so you will be losing 50% daily production on Seti.

Yep, your all absolutely right (unfortunatly;))
It says a WU takes 2hrs, but in fact it's exactly 4hrs.. Ah well,
then I'll produce a little less at seti, UD counts in CPU time so that project
doesn't care about speed :p

UD actually counts total time, so it counts as a full second even if it only gets half of that in cpu time.

exactly!
Although I wonder, isn't that a (very) little cheating? Because even when the client doesn't do anything (0% cpu utilization) it does count points. You
can take several days or weeks for one WU, while it could be done in maybe 6hrs.. So youre not contributing much for the project, but do get the credit
for the little work done..

That's probably exactly what I was thinking of. :) I sold a A64 3 months ago, and haven't been around one since. my mistake.
