I'm a noob to scripting, so looking for someone to hold my hand here

I want to run a .vbs script that opens up a webpage automatically when I logon. It seems that a "logon script" is the way to go from what I can tell, although I haven't found a clear way to do it that worked for me.

I don't know whether to use group policy to do this or what. I don't even know how to access group policy, and it appears that I have to download a group policy mmc anyway.

As of right now my .vbs script I want to run is located at root of c drive. I was having a problem when trying to create a logon script regarding some netlogon thing.

I'm really confused about this so hopefully this makes some sense. I'm on a small workgroup at home, with 3 XP machines networked, and that is all. I just want the .vbs script to run on my work computer when I logon.

Just drop the .vbs file into the startup folder in the programs menu.

This reminds me of a practical joke some of my classmates pulled off in school. Someone got this flash animation that shows your entire C drive getting deleted and then a black screen for 15 seconds before writing 'You are fooled' on-screen.

What they did was drop it in the startup folder. A teacher (not too familiar with computers) booted the system next and got the shock of her life !

The sad part was our admins weren't too bright and that was not the only case. The last I heard of the matter was that the guys responsible got 2 or 3 days worth of suspension.

This happened years ago.

That's a pretty weak suspension considering what other schools are doing now. Expelled, even legal trouble.

Yeah, the days when messing with computers was considered a harmless prank are gone. If you do this today better make sure it's a good friend and not widely advertised.
