I heard the San Diego marathon is coming up in a few months and I decided I'm going to run it. Anybody have any preparation or training tips for me...

I ran the NY marathon a few years ago.

Actually you only want to do long runs once a week. Over the course of 3 or 4 month you long run builds to near marathon length. You only need to train an 30-75 minutes 4 days a week, plus a weekly long run.

Im pretty toned however I dont do too much running. I mainly lift weights but I have a skinnier build. I was able to run four miles without being out of breath at the end a few days ago, but now my ass is sore.

yeah well I had been a cross country runner throughout high school so... my training for a marathon was fast paced

3 miles a day should do it, I've only ever ran 12 in a row though, kinna short I guess. Just FYI, running on pavement SUCKS.

My friend at work just ran the L.A. Marathon. Amazing woman--just started running for fun 3 months ago, trained in a half-ass kind of way (longest run ever was 13 miles), then ran a 5:20 to beat roughly half of the field. Plus she's hot!
