I have a new ECS K7S5A MB and am still waiting for a new AMD Duron 1300 processor to put into it. I have been messing around with the setup with and older AMD Duron 700. I believe that this MB suppports processor speeds from 800 - 1500. When the system posts it reports a processor speed of 1000. Is there any harm in running a board with a slower than recomended processor in it?

Thanks in advance for any advice.

I'm running mine with one of the very first Duron-600 that ever made it to the shelves. No problem.

If you put a 700 in and see 1000 MHz, then enter BIOS, CPU page, and put the CPU bus speed back to 100 MHz where it belongs.
THIS INSTANT. It might blow.

Depending on what kind of RAM you have, you may leave the RAM speed at 133 MHz nonetheless. Speed settings 100/100 or 100/133 are valid for you, 133/133 is not.
