running a 6800 GT in a Shuttle

well, I just installed my PNY 6800 GT in my SB75G2 and she handles like a dream. the card is running at 420/1100 on my system's 250W power supply without any problems so this stuff about people needing 350W power supplies (and above) is bunk.

here's a pic...

anyways..... I'm happy with everything 'cept for one thing. my system isnt 90% near silent anymore no thanks to the GT's fan.

oh well, I guess you cant have everything... 🙁

There's supposedly a VGA silencer coming out soon for 6800 series cards which may help you. I know shuttles have a pci slot next to the agp so it may fit.

The BFG GT runs great in my SN45G, and I'm a white noise lovin' guy so no issues there. The ACHME 200w PSU didn't bonk with it either.

Anyone got a clue if this one fits into a Shuttle PC? http://www.hisdigital.com/html/iceq9800_pro.htm

If you don´t use the PCI slot, it should fit. Or am I wrong?
I'm not certain if it's all Shuttle SFFs *I'm fairly certain it is* but mine has the AGP slot on the outside so 2 slot cards will not work unless you want to cut your cover up.

Uh, bummer.

so i'm assuming you can play several hours of hard core far cry (or drug of choice) without stability issues? doesnt the case get super hot? dont have a SFF now, but looking for one in the future.

The case stays fairly cool sinces it's alu, and the card runs flawlessly. I'm going to do some benchies with my GT and SN45G using an old Athlon 4 mobile@1.16ghz and compare it to my A64@2.4ghz system @1280x1024 to see just how terribly the CPU bottlenecks it@that res. with eye candy on. Should be fun 🙂

I did the mod that i put on the link included and it worked great, dont know if you saw that above. The exhaust air is actually cool now. i used a different VGA block then the one pictured but you can do this with the ATI or the nvidia fat cards. plus it gave me over 20% boost in 3dmark. i dont have a web server or i would post my own pics. anywya, if you want to get your fat card in a shuttle without cutting heres how.
