running a 45nm quad on a asus p5k (or any p35 board)?

If you're running a 45 nm quad on an asus p5k (or any other P35 board for that matter), are you able to hit 8x400 or 8x450 okay? If so, what are your board voltages and mb temps (like north bridge temp or whatever readout that board displays for motherboard temps)?

I ask because I'm thinking about getting a Q9450 next month on this board and since the multiplier is locked @ 8.0, I'll have to jack up the FSB.

Thanks for the feedback all!

I am able to hit 500 x 9 on my P5k with E8400. GTL & northbridge references voltage affects the stability a lot..

He is asking about a quad not a E8400 we all know these will run there.

abit ip-35 pro and yes to the 9450 at 8 x 400. (actually 8 x 448 stable with mushkin 6400- 2 gigabytes) tomorrow, i should get my g.skill 8500 sticks in and we'll see where i can go..unfortunately, could luck asking for temps as they are goofy with the penryns. have yet to see anyone with any penryn who 100% believes the temps they are getting due to the sensor issues that abound. but i can tell you that 8 x 448, i need about 1.275 volts on the 9450 core.

1.275 V is great @ 3.6 GHz. Hope mine runs that well. As to the grid. I'll try to update it this evening. It's VERY labor intensive since I have to take a series of screenshots and painstakingly fit them together and save as a gif (right now it's about 5 of them).

no problem, graysky..didn't have a clue what was involved to get that grid updated..thanks..in terms of the 9450..here's my basic thing with it..if someone wants it to be a better overclocker than a quad6600..it's probaby not going to be much better or maybe not better at all..but for what they are really designed to do, as per the 9300 review for example, it's clearly for the most part better. but i think if i someone buys them to be able to have a 4 gig quad..then they should get a 9550 and cross their fingers..or belly up to the bar with a grand and buy an extreme penryn quad. in my case, i wanted a quad for good overclocking results, at low voltage and temp. fast overruled by quiet is still my objective especially as this is an htpc box:) if 4 gig was my goal, i would have bought a 6600 and watercooling

np.and no dice running the quad past 450fsb..not a memory issue as my abit board would show C1 and it does go through the numbers..but in spite of any settings in voltage, cranking up my fan, it will come so close to booting at 460fsb..but won't quite do it..fsb limited and 3583 (8 x 448 is still my best stable) it will now do just over 450 actually..454 but that's at 7.5 x multi..not worth it:)

6.5 x 470...that's my best with the current immature abit bios..and maybe due to such an early stepping on my quad..it will be interesting for me to sit on the sidelines once the 9450's hit retail and see where people can go with them..

well, i got up to about 465 stable..470 will boot into windows but i wouldn't trust stability..that was with a 6 to 6x multi..the only way i would be happy with that multi is if i could get 500 plus..a more mature stepping combined with the need for far more mature tuned bioses on the p35 mobos is required to have a shot at that, i think:)
