Running 2 electrical outlets in my basement

Looking at installing 2 electrical outlets in my basement ceiling for fluorescent lights. The power will go into the outlet.

Here's a diagram that looks similar to what I want to do

http://www.electrical-online.c...chwiringvariation1.htm

I basically want to add a second outlet in that diagram. Do I just connect it to the power and neutral coming from the outlet (the light in the diagram) and then continue the wiring to the switch?

Hope that makes sense. Doesn't seem like it should be that hard but for some reason I just can't see it.

I'm not an electrician, but I wired my basement (new subpanel, 4 different lines with different outlets and switches).
Just hook them up in series. Black line comes into the box and goes to gold. Another black line leaves from a gold and heads out to the next outlet. White lines go to silver in the same way. Green wires go to the green screw.
However, are you sure you want all your outlets to be operated by the switch? If you put them after the switch, that's what'll happen. I'd hardwire the lights on their own line and run a second line for the outlets.

First of all you don't want to wire the lights in series. Second the lights plug into the outlets.

I want to plug the flouresent lights into an outlet and operate the outlet (thus the lights) by a switch.

Power will come into the outlet and that's what is making this confusing. Maybe I'll just hook it up how I think and pray it works.

Yes I mispoke. Technically it's "parallel" not series. And I understand he wants to plug his lights into outlets, but if he hasn't already bought the lights with plugs on them, hardwiring is a much cleaner solution; especially if it will be a permanent install.

I LOL'd at that.....misspoke, technically it's parallel........in wiring, the difference is HUGE!!!!
