Running 1G RAM at DDR400

Anyone running 1G of PC3200 (Corsair XMS) on a 845G motherboard. I have 4G4A+ with one stick (512MB) of RAM on DIMM-2, 1.6A running at 150FSB with 4:5 divider. Stable. Additing another stick to this board makes it unstable and now even at 133FSB I am getting crashes.

I have been reading that Asus P4B533-V has the 3:4 divider available > 133FSB with the new BIOS. Can this board run 1G RAM at 150FSB with the 3:4 divider? If not which board can.

Thanks

I had the same problem with the EPox board - piece of crap. Tried everything.

THe Abit IT7 was noted both here and in other reviews and in the hardocp forums to work with 2 DIMMS and/or 1GB of RAM.

Currently I have built 3 IT7 based systems in the past 4 weeks all with 512x2=1GB of cosair XMS3200 ram. They are all running with DIMMS in slots 1+3 at 400mhz (150mhz FSB) CAS 2-2-5-2 Voltage=2.7

Stable is defined as PRime95 for 24 hours and 3DMark for 24 hours.

IT will run at Voltage=2.5volts on the DIMMS but only at SPD timings (>167mhz is 2-3-6-3).

Faboulous board. Amazing ram. Simply the most stable system I have used to date running XP Pro.

Hmm...I'm running 2 x 256mb Kingmax PC3200 without issues on my 4G4A+ . What DIMM slots are you using?

using the 3:4 divider will result in a higher memory clock than you had with the 4:5 divider. even if the 3:4 divider results in a memory clock of 400MHz (which is exactly in spec with the DDR400 standard), shouldn't it run just as stable with the XMS3200 running lower than 400MHz (i.e. 375MHz w/ a 4:5 divier)?

Sunny:

I cannot run at 150FSB with 4G4A+ using the 3:4 divider (JP1 plugged in). The max is 145FSB to be stable. Now adding another stick of 512MB of XMS3200 (DIMM-1 and DIMM-2) is unstable at 133FSB. So I think this board is crap. IT is OK with 512MB but anything more look elsewhere.

Thanks for the tip, I will read up on ABIT IT7. I need to run 1G RAM since I have Oracle Apps running on this machine and it is slow with 512MB.

CPU runs stable at 1.6V vcore at 160FSB with 1:1 divider. So I know it is not the CPU. I suspect the board and memory in that order.
