Okay, I just got back from like a 20 minute run. I ran about 2 - 2.5 miles. I haven't ran since high school, I'm now a sophomore in college and I used to be really athletic in high school. In fact, I cannot remember a time when I wasn't physically fit. This is the first time since then that I've ran. I have a few symptoms here that I'd like to share with you to see if it's normal..

1. I'm finding myself in a drunk state... I move my head and everything seems to smudge, or I have the illusion that I'm turning my head and my eyes aren't following as fast as my head is moving

2. I feel like I'm going to puke

3. I'm sweating like a pig

Despite these feelings it's been about 10 minutes or so since I got back and ironically despite tall that.... I actually have good feeling throughout my body, almost a serene numbness.

So are these feelings normal?

well it is normal to get a "runners high" but I don't think what you are experiencing is that. I suggest drinking more water before running and if you still feel that way then go see a doctor.

Like I said, I haven't done this in a while... I remember sweating like a pig, and I remember feeling like I was going to puke, those where symptoms that I always had at the begining of soccer season, for the first week or so. But as for the drunk state, I don't remember that, but during soccer season, I never stopped to actually experience such a thing, I was always constantly going, if anything was moving slow I always considered myself getting in the zone, I was warmed up, and by that time, I was already scrimmaging with the rest of the team, so my adrenaline was pumping as well. I don't get very hyped about running.

But The nice cool serene numbness is a pretty damn neat feeling. Although the cold feeling is accompanied by sweat, which worries me a little... but it feels pretty neato.

yeh i would definately drink some more water before you go run. I occasionally have that feeling, but usually only at the end of a race or interval, when i am going really really fast. It actually does feel kind of good though, like you are pushing hard, but it doesnt hurt quite as much. If you were just joggin it probably shouldnt happen, but you are probably just dehydrated. So try drinking some more water next time. If the problem persists, you might want to see a doctor.

yeah, I'm a soda fiend... that's pretty much all I drink, I can't even remember the last glass of water I've had. That was probably what went wrong.
