Runescape vs World of Warcraft

Which one is better/which one do you like more? If you'd have to choose.

Anyone choosing Runescape over WoW is a moron and just wants to go against the grain. The 3rd option is also another possible choice.

I guess I'm going against the grain on this one... If RS didn't have such a garbage community, I'd easily pick it over WoW. PVP in that game was actually very fun to me because of the full death penalty, but the annoying kids were not. I don't grieve... I just enjoy the thrill of risk, is all (good thing I avoid gambling). Only made it up to level 50 or so, which in that game is still considered very noob. That was what I did when I too much spare time in the summer 2009.

So... neither. I'm still waiting for the true modern UO.

Runescape if I didn't want to pay. Never played WOW but probably that or something newer if I wanted to spend money.

I actually liked RS for the same PVP reason. Once you were in the wild you'd have to be careful as hell otherwise you'd lose all your crap.

Just curious but if you were planning on paying for Runescape then why would you pick it over World of Warcraft/Rift/SWTOR?

Hence why I asked, If you were paying either way why choose runescape over world of warcraft or any other decent MMO.

I know its fashionable to hate on WoW as well as some other enormously successful franchises, but cmon no one can seriously compare these two games apples to apples and think runescape is superior. For a browser based free game runescape is pretty remarkable but its not even in the same league as wow.

Just so much cheaper. WoW is like $100+ just to get all the expansion packs plus more monthly.

RS has $0 startup costs and just a small monthly fee.

I actually have a WoW account with all expansions up to Cata and I still feel this way.

Actually WoW can be had on sale with the Battlechest for ~$30 for everything up to and including Cata. Not too bad but yes there is still a larger startup cost.

Also consider you can play 1-20 in WoW free of charge now. To be honest, lets face it you get about 5% of Runscape in their free accounts so for both you need to pay to really get any sort of feel for what the game "really is"
