Run two PCI-E graphics cards without SLI/Crossfire?

Hi,

I currently have two Radeon X300's, both PCI-E and I want to run them both because I want to use two DVI outs. I have a DFI NF4 Ultra D (it has two PCI-E slots) and the manual does mention something about having dual graphics cards (not the SLI bit). I can't seem to get them both to run at the same time? It doesn't seem to pick up the other graphics card at all, but device manager shows no conflicts either. The strangest thing is that I've installed the ATI drivers (not the catalyst ones), but when you select the advanced area in the display properties, the tabs aren't populated with ATI stuff like they normally are when you have installed the ATI drivers.

If anyone has managed to do this, I'd be interested to know how you managed it. Thanks.

I don't actually want to run a SLI / Crossfire setup.. All I want to do is to run each card on its own, but obviously to share the desktop. I know it works if I use a single PCI-E gfx card and a PCI graphics card.. so?

Then I have a problem. I've got the two cards installed. However, one of the cards is detected and working, but the other is not.

You may have to set the motherboard to the 'crossfire' mode (so both slots are enabled and running at 8x speed). But you should be able to run two cards without using Crossfire.

If you *see* the second card in Device Manager, but it's not working, try removing and reinstalling the drivers as suggested.
