Run shared music folder over my network. Network systems never show new music automatically.

I have a basic Xp Pro system that acts as my home media server. I usually will rip my new CD's locally on it. I have my Media Center Vista machine set to monitor that same rip folder. The Media Center displays the entire library correctly.

However I just ripped my two latest cd's (Linkin Park/Coldplay) and again they do not show up on my media center or any other network system unless I let the Media Player software search the entire drive each time to add new content. Shouldn't this happen automatically? If not how can I get it to show up quickly.

Also ripping from the Media Center would work BUT it would then cause an issue with my Itunes library. I keep my Itunes software on the server machine so my Itunes is always current so I can sync up whenever. I would like my networked machines to be able to update their WMP / WMC automatically each time I add content.

That's strange...it should happen automatically, I have 2 Vista Media Center systems and several Vista laptops with WMP and Zune software and they are all set to get music, photos and videos from a share on my WHS box and update correctly. iTunes on one of the laptops is the only thing that never updates correctly.

Did you set up the folder to monitor on the Vista box through WMP or WMC? I would remove monitored folders in both, restart and then just set it up through Library setup in WMC.
