i copied a whole ntfs hard drive using knoppix. and i don't mean imaging, i mean copying file by file.
 
it's just writing to ntfs that's not a good idea from linux. I have my windows ntfs partition automounted read-only when I boot linux. Plus with VMplayer and QEMU I run Windows XP Pro in a window of linux. Works pretty well and allows me to use windows whenever I need to at work without having to reboot my pc.
