Salon.com article: Rumsfeld's personal spy ring

"Everything we've seen since the war has confirmed intelligence community suspicions about its [the Office of Special Plans'] sources of information," says Greg Thielmann, who ran military assessments at the State Department's Bureau of Intelligence and Research until he retired in October. "The rosy assumption about troops being greeted with flowers and hugs -- that came from that stream of intelligence. The assurance that they knew exactly where the weapons of mass destruction were, or that Iraq was ready to employ chemical and biological weapons in battle within 45 minutes of an order -- all of those stories have proven wrong."

It is very important to manipulate all aspects of reality when you create a religious cult.

You do know the CIAs claim about Niger not selling uranium, is based on the claim of one guy, an ex ambassador(in the 70s) to Niger who spent 1 week there, talking to political and business leaders. We have ZERO human intel in Africa.

Yes the documents were forged, however British intel still thinks Niger did indeed sell Iraq uranium. The Brits ain't backing down on that.

Wow. That is so backwards. We have zero evidence that Iraq DID try to buy uranium from Niger. We have one solid piece of evidence they did NOT. Therefore, Iraq DID try to buy uranium from Niger? Is that your reasoning?

The British claim to have more evidence, but won't reveal it. British insiders who have seen the evidence report that it ultimately tracks back to that same forgery. No other country is coming forward to corroborate Britain's claim. Put it all together and we have ... nothing.

Bottom line, we have no evidence Iraq tried to buy uranium anywhere. Claiming otherwise to justify an invasion was a lie.

We have a severe credibility issue in Africa, with or without Bush. Yes it was wrong to say flat out Iraq bought uranium from Niger. But its also wrong to say they didnt. Niger gets 65% of its GDP by exporting uranium, its still plausible Iraq bought uranium from Niger, forged documents aside. The problem is we have ZERO human intel on the ground in Africa. Its been that way since the mid 90s. Which explains the bombings in Kenya and Tanzina in 98 as well as Clinton bombing an aspring factory.

our intel deficiencies run further up the line too. 'lack of pre-9/11 sources to be cited as failure
osama's gang was very difficult to penetrate. he recruited from the wastelands of the arabian peninsula and
the northwest frontier territories of pakistan. he had to be able to trace your lineage, know your whereabouts
through various periods of time, and have trusted members vouch for your islamic credentials. his safeguards
were the human version of fort knox.

Ummmm......that is was why we went into Afganistan not Iraq ! Anyways if we really wanted to do something about 9/11 we should of rolled our tanks down south towards Saudi Arabia.
