If you don't know the detailed performance characteristics of the parts in question, how on earth could you be sure it would be a perfect product for a particular purpose?
Based on the reasonable assumption that a product that requires such a significant investment wouldn't be produced otherwise?

This news is part of market manipulation. Rumors, positive or negative, are propaganda by investors looking for quick money. That has nothing to do with the love for technology.

It appears to be working, at least a little. AMD up to $2.10! Anyone who bought in at ~$1.70 is feeling pretty good right now. Or hoping for more.

Bulldozer must have been a significant investment too. Look how that turned out. Honestly, this circular reasoning keeps coming up over and over, usually in relation to AMD, which is the poster boy for proving it false. If you follow this reasoning, then every product that comes to market must be a success.

Wait, I thought Apple was going to buy AMD. Or was that Samsung? Oh, no wait, Microsoft is going to buy them, that's it!

How rediculous.

In the meantime, AMD lost another million dollars since this thread was created.

What, that's it? Are they turning things around for real or something?

I somehow doubt this is true given the general nature of rumors, but wasn't there another one more recently about Intel possibly fabbing SoCs for Apple using and Intel designed baseband? That one sounds a lot more credible to me.
