As an s6 owner, I'm kinda jealous. I would absolutely LOVE if the s6 had a 3500 mAh battery.

Just saw that ad. Hopefully they added an SD cad and replaceable battery.

can you please explain to me how in the world you think they could affordably add a replaceable battery to a waterproof phone
S5 has got one.

Fast charge, wireless charging and a stonking great battery. Its got all the great guts from the S6 and its waterproof and dustproof. Its sounds great its just....

...

That camo pattern is horrible. :(

The last thing I want in an outdoorsy phone is one thats disguised when I put it down.

All in all though it looks pretty great. Its kinda what I was expecting (well, its exactly what I was expecting) but in this case thats a good thing.

Now I need to see availability on 64gb international versions.

Nice battery, but why ATT exclusive. ATT gets all the good phones. I may need to switch.

"Colors: Camo White, Camo Blue, or Gray"

Camo white is hardly camo unless you are in a snow storm.

S4 active was waterproof with removeable back, the back just had a gasket on it. I took mine into the pool and it worked great. S5 standard AND active both had removeable backs and were waterproof.

Any other questions? :colbert:

The Active phones have always been ATT exclusive, and they're some of the best exclusives around. Loved my S4 active, with the only downside being no community support because the market was so limited. If you're one to want to root and/or flash new ROMs it's not the phone for you.

If I didn't have (and like) my note 4, I would jump on the S6 active in a second.

I question how many times the back can be removed and reinstalled

Wut? If you're talking about the S5 as many times as you want. I don't think that the S6 has a removable back.

He's thinking that over time, the gasket on the S5 ACTIVE is going to degrade and stop sealing properly.

more that the plastic is going to flex and deform from original.

I believe there is a property of plastics called...hm...plasticity...that determines this. like metals. some will deform permanently. some maintain rigidity after a flex, assuming they don't break. aluminum allow would be an example

Is the camera the same as on the regular s6? i might be tempted by this when it drops depending on off contract price.

Aluminium is a poor choice of metal to use if you want to avoid metal fatigue. Spring steels (and few other alloys I think) are the ones that can bend (to a certain point) infinitely without permanent deformation.

In any case, the GS5 will maintain its waterproofness over more battery back removals than most people will even come close to.

It's not a property of plastics... it's just a materials term. "Plastic deformation" is any strain applied that is permanent. It's the same term for any material.

In the case of rubber, it can dry out and crack. That takes a very long time though. Longer than people would have the phone.

Regardless, for the original Galaxy S4 Active Samsung extended the water damage warranty because of the same fears. It was never designed to be water proof, just water RESISTANT in shallow depths for short periods of time.

I rip mine off at least once a day and it's fine (I don't charge, I just stick a full battery in).

They only cost a few quid to replace anyway.

I don't know about the regular S5, but IIRC on the S5 Active, the rubber seal was on the phone back not the battery cover. I could be mis-remembering, though.

yes, but I'm talking about it maintaining its shape, not whether it can bend or not
