Rumored GTAIV Multiplayer Details

Based on the newly launched Grand Theft Auto IV web site, we know that the game has some sort of multiplayer component. What we don't know for sure is what it involves. But according to a rumored tagged report from Destructoid, citing an anonymous source, a suite of multiplayer options are planned, including death match, co-op, team based head-to-head battles and online races. While that may sound like a list of vague concepts that could be just an educated guess, the site's source has names for each, including Cops 'n' Crooks, Bomb da Base and Hangman's Noose.

If true, it would be the first Grand Theft Auto title to feature such a significant multiplayer aspect to the game. Check out the full report for more info on rumored multiplayer additions, including a look at some of GTA IV's side quests and mini-games.

I like the destructoid website..

I hope cops and crooks is where you select which team you are -- cops or crooks and you battle it out in the city. Of course cops get police cars and arresting capabilities and crooks will be able to hold up banks.

I hope the whole game is online co-op it would be bad a$$. I would never stop playing it..
 
A GTA game with online co-op ala Crackdown would be the greatest game ever made. There we go, I said it.

I find that funny because the very first GTA (top down, PC based) was really only played in LAN parties.

Anyone who remembers Midtown Madness knows that cops and croops is awsome 😀
 
I really hope it has a great online coop..... and I don't mean "special" coop missions. A full online coop of the entire game!

oh hell yes. I would totally love that. jump in/ jump out coop would be superb. Paradise and Crackdown are two wonderful example of how coop should be handled in an open world.
