For the time being, we're focusing on the likes of Grand Theft Auto IV (April 29) and Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots (probably June 12). But what about further on down the line in 2008? Can we really forget about titles like Resident Evil 5? We've heard that Resistance 2 should make it out this year (along with Gran Turismo 5), but survival/horror fans have only one title on their minds...and the latest rumor says it could arrive this fall!
According to one of the rumors in this month's EGM, Capcom supposedly plans to release the next installment in this legendary franchise before or during the holiday season of this year. While this is nothing but speculation for now, several sources (including PSU) have said this could be very, very true. In fact, Resident Evil 5 could be sitting pretty on store shelves as early as October! It would be yet another fine addition to the already amazing 2008 lineup of software, especially after RE4 completely rejuvenated the aging series. After the excellence that was Devil May Cry 4, this would be Capcom's biggest release of the year, so we're always looking for new details.
RE5, set for release on both the PS3 and Xbox 360, marks the return of S.T.A.R.S Marksman, Chris Redfield. He'll be working for an organization called "BSAA," and he's supposed to investigate a remote village out in the midst of the African desert. Not surprisingly, he finds the citizens infected with some bizarre virus that turns them into aggressive, nasty human-hunters. We'll once again get that over-the-shoulder view so many critics liked in RE4, and we'll also get new weapons and new abilities. There's no doubt it'll be a huge title, so let's hope this rumor proves true.

I for one hope so. And like the guy said in one of the comments, A new Silent Hill would be great as well.
