JSH repeated over and over in many interviews that nvidia has taken special care with this node. I read something about them even putting together a group specifically to make this transition smooth. He claimed they learned a lot from their mistakes and they were determined to not make the same mistakes as before. Where most ppl may claim he is the devil and full of it, I tend to think he is aggressive and gets results.

I have heard that this node has been a headache for everyone. The 22 nm LP has been more forgiving. Its not likely that AMD would have magically escaped the issues of this node. i dont think they will have performance chips out so soon.

I dont think Nvidia is gonna drop the ball anything like with the gtx400 series. Thats not saying AMD cannot beat them to the punch. But i doubt that Nvidia will be too far behind. There is so many rumors out now, and thats all they are at this point. Its just not looking like we are gonna see any chips out really soon. No performance leaks from anywhere. Its looking like we are gonna all have to wait a couple months at least.

But then again, nvidia did surprise everyone wit the 580. Out of nowhere it came. It was very unexpected. You never know, Nvidia learned how to sneak in a blow. They may again, pr AMD might ave taken note and return a punch like so, Its just strange we see nothing on leaked performance, and i think this says something. The spec numbers we got leaked thus far are typical for cards coming months away. We almost always get performance leaks when a card is coming out in just a few weeks.

^Averaging 22C, not bad! Not exactly beach friendly though!

Actually, it's looking like AMD is going to be putting out a high end card this January (> GTX580).

For whatever reason, NV was well behind AMD in taping out their next gen chips. I hope the new Kepler GPUs will be worth the wait.

Best indication is to keep an eye out for PR from NVIDIA's JHH, the more he personally talks up Kepler the longer the wait. It's like Groundhog's Day but for GPUs.
