Rumor: Nexus 10 (2014) to have Tegra 4, Not Snapdraggon 800

No source.

Whatever SoC is fine, but it needs to (1) exist and (2) not have ridiculously limited storage.

I think this is positive news. CPU wise its no slouch (not as strong as S 800) but GPU wise it's probably the best available.

I currently own a Surface 2 with the Tegra 4 and it's as smooth as possible. (More so than my Nexus 10)

This should interest those who want to game on there Tablets, as the Tegra 4 GPU is very strong and will probably bring the Tegra store to the Nexus 10

I don't want an Nvidia anything in any of my mobile devices.

The Tegra 4 doesnt fully support OpenGL 3 and Open CL.

If this is true, it makes me glad I bough my first gen N10. Ive been bitten by Tegra twice, both times dissatisfied.

Yeah, I don't get excited about Tegra anymore either after the disappointments of Tegra 2 and Tegra 3.

I too had a HTC One X with the Tegra 3 in it at one point - It sucked

That said, My surface 2 with the Tegra 4 feels as smooth as any SOC I've used.

My Nexus 7(2012) is horrible slow. I mean it takes about 5-10 seconds just to get the keyboard up. Not to mention typing on it...
Reinstalling, CyanogenMod, nothing works. It must be hardware related.

I really want a new one, but the S4 Pro in the new Nexus 7 keeps me away. I know it's quite identical to the S600, but there is also the screen size. I use the tablet at home, only. So a bigger screen is preferred. I would like to see the Nexus 10 being released, but with all the Nexus 8 talk, it just don't seem to happen. Give me the best specs and I'm happy. The price is high at all tablets here, so I don't really care about it.

Tegra 3 is the major culprit.

The reason is less Tegra 3 (although it was a disappointment) and more that Asus put in very slow flash memory in the N7 and Android didn't do TRIM until recently.

My 2012 Nexus 7 is pretty snappy (keyboard pops up instantly), but it does have dropped frames in the UI which were not present to the same degree on my old Galaxy S2. I would have much preferred a non-Tegra SoC.

I would like suggest perhaps doing a full wipe with the Nexus Root Toolkit and see if that fixes it. Bring it up to stock 4.4 (plus root), it runs really well.

Basically because it's starting to age. If I buy a new product today, I want the hardware to be up to date.

Didn't the S4 release around October 2012?

I've wiped it up to several times, with lots of different rooms in order to speed things up. CM, CleanRom, stock, and different kernels. I got the best performance with CM, but even then it was laggy compared to other Android devices.

I'm thinking of returning it to the dealer I bought it from. If there is something hardware - related, they might replace it with a new one. Then the device will get TRIM support from day one. I reckon that's the main reason it's become this slow. But if I return it, I'll be without a tablet for some time, which is a bummer. Dilemma...

As I read the article linked to the OP for the first time, the author provides absolutely no cites or sources. There isn't even a mention of "industry insider" or "analyst who declined to be named," and everything is written in 3rd-person point of view.

I'd say that article is a troll piece.
