BGR has info on what it thinks is the next Google Nexus phone.

http://www.bgr.com/2011/06/15/exclusive-google-nexus-4g-detailed-720p-display-4g-lte-android-4-0/

We have been told that the Google Nexus 4G will feature a next-generation dual-core 1.2GHz or 1.5GHz CPU, and contrary to reports about it featuring an NVIDIA Kal-El processor, our source indicates it’s most likely an OMAP 4460 or a, ultra low-power 28nm Krait-based Snapdragon. The display is said to be a 720p HD “monster-sized” screen, and it won’t feature physical Android menu buttons below the screen anymore — everything will be software-based.
Read more at the source.

Coming around Thanksgiving with 4G LTE, speculation by BGR, from AT&T.

Hmm, SGS2 or this Nexus? :hmm:

Hrm, I'd rather they have a qHD SAMOLED screen. It's simply a very convenient resolution to be at.

What is a "monster sized" screen exactly? They can't go bigger than 4.5" can they?! That won't fit in my skinny jeans..

I so hope this comes to AT&T and not the silly T-mo 3G bands, that don't work in Europe.

I don't see there being much competition between this and Galaxy S2, at least not for me. If these specs are true, how would the SGS2 be better? Battery perhaps? Or is the Touch Weener skin or whatever amazing or something..? :hmm:

SAMOLED+

Now, a 720p SAMOLED+ would blow everyone's mind.

Be far more interesting if Verizon would get one of these.

Doubtful. Usually the Nexus line serves as a good developers phone and allows Google to opportunity to put some cutting edge hardware into the phone, such as NFC chips. Also the phones are usually sold unlocked and using stock Android.

Verizon, of all the carriers, is probably the most insistent on putting their own crap on the phones and ensuring that they're locked down fairly tightly. I can't see them bending terribly much, especially for a phone that won't generate the same sales volume as other devices that they carry.

I'm still predicting Kal-El wifi tablet. But maybe that's just an unofficial Ice Cream flagship like the OG Droid (Eclair) or Xoom (Honeycomb). Given that Ice Cream is a convergence release, we'll possibly get two flagship devices, Nexus or not.

Anyway, the next Nexus original *phone* will definitely be on Sprint.

Well Sprint IS part of the open handset alliance, plus Google merged Teamwin's WIMAX code into android source (Sprint being the only carrier using WIMAX). And on top of that, Google has been throwing out services exclusive to Sprint (Google Voice integration and Google Wallet).

I'm sure it will come to Sprint, just at a later time, seeing as how cozy they are together.

Also if it's a 1280×720 display, it won't be AMOLED. They don't make S-AMOLED+ displays that high rez in any amount other than one-offs for trade shows yet which is why the Galaxy S-2 only has a 480x800 display. Even if Sammy makes it.
