Here the big rumor of the launched day nonetheless by the site Nintendo World (Official Nintendo Magazine of Brazil) that recall the had broadcasted the first picture of Metal Gear Solid: The Twin Snakes on GameCube there is some months, according to Nintendo World, Nintendo is about to to sign an agreement with Microsoft to develop together a new console... Without giving more precisions.

though just rumor that's been floating around for a while, it would make sense. the weaknesses of one are the strengths of the other

It would make sense. Nintendo is on its last legs and last four billion in cash. Nintendo can not make a serious run with the next gen console. Now that Sony is planning to get into the portable market, that?s going to hurt Nintendo even more. Joining forces could put some serious hurt into Sony.

I'd hate to see Nintendo go with MS 🙁

I could see the MS influence ruining Nintendo games as they're forced to rush games out the door etc... Although Xbox really could use a Nintendo designed controller heh.

I disagree. I believe that MS would keep a hands off aproach on development and marketing and value Nintendo expertise in the market.

WTF are you talking about ? Are you refering to thinking that I dont know that MS refers to Microsoft ?

They'll probably just buy Nintendo outright, keep the name around for marketing reasons and make Nintendo games for XBOX.

From what I've seen MS isn't as bad at rushing games out the door as most game companies. And you can keep the nintendo controller. 🙂

sarcasm, i meant that thats not normally the way microsoft do things

That would suck. Sega and Nintendo should team up and trounce Microsoft out of the business.

M$ doesn't "PARTNER" with companies. It digests them.

Why? Maybe Microsoft and Sony should team up and trounce Nintendo out of business like Nintendo and Sony did to Sega. 😉

i think a microsoft and nintendo merge would be awesome. the problem is they would have to come out with a new system that satisfies the gamecube games (those mini discs) and the xbox games.

No they wouldn't. It would be a completely new system. And new gen Nintendo is being announced next May. Expect a full-size DVD.

holy crap! No way. If MS came out with a nintendo designed controller, I will not buy it. Nintendo controllers look like they were designed by a blind hobo. MS controllers look and feel comfortable.

MS has already tried to buy out Nintendo. Nintendo said no thanks. Nintendo isnt dieing by any means, its GC sales may be lackluster and lagging but it has the handheld market cornered. So if they were going to do something together it would be a joint venture partnership. It could happen, but not likely.

And if you belive that, you`ll belive anything.
Despite what you may think, Nintendo are far from strapped for cash. They make millions and millions from the GBA & GBA SP alone.
They can design, produce, and market a next gen console just as well as MS and Sony.

It wont hurt Nintendo at all. There have been plenty of GB challengers over the years, all of them boasting better specs than the GB, but all have failed.
For several reasons, short battery life, large size, not many games, games that there are being crap.
The nGage will fail as its a mobile phone as well, and that will bump up the price to above £200. And the PSP will be expensive to produce.

I think that it`d be a good idea personally.

I couldnt.
MS know how good Nintendo are at designing games, and will not rush them, Nintendo wont let them. Becides, there will be more than enough 3rd party games to go around while everyone waits for the next Nintendo game.

I was expecting a blue laser mini dvd. Same size disks as before, but using blue lasers, for higher density.

Didn't they stop production of the GC?

Yes. But not permenantly.
They have alot of GCs in their warehouse`s, and want to get rid of them before making more.

Didn't Sony develop the blue laser technology? I'm not 100% sure but if they did, I doubt Nintendo would use that same technology unless they don't mind paying Sony.

Anyone who thinks Nintendo is as strong as ever is just kidding themselves. They're slowly losing gains in N.A. At the current trend, Nintendo might pull out of the hardware business (except for portable devices) and become a software developer like Sega. Or they might put full focus in the JPN market because they will always be popular over there, which means even less stuff for us over here.

wow. this is news to me. This would be very interesting. I love Sony but i always like seeing the person on top take a topple.

I joke with little kids that i know on why the Gamecube "sucked" and hasn't sold well. I convinced a few that Gamecube didn't identify and keep the Nintendo name. Nintendo was great. Super Nintendo was great. Nintendo 64 was great. Now, we just have Gamecube and it hasn't lived up. They ate it up.
