I don't think it is any secret that Valve has no interest in working on the PS3. It wouldn't surprise me though if EA got another dev house to port L4D2 to the PS3 like they did with the Orange Box.

Semi OT question: how was the PS3 version of the orange box? Was it a solid port, as in pretty much same as 360 version?

It had some issues (can't remember if they patched the frame rate issues or multiplayer issues) but it's a great collection of games that you can get for $19.99 or less now.

If I remember correctly, they also did that for the first L4D when some retailer (forgot which) posted up a PS3 version of L4D and then it was quickly removed and never saw the light of day.

EA is not creating L4D2..they would just port it..as in rewrite the code for the ps3

IIRC, Valve stated after Orange Box they were no longer going to work with the PS3 because it was a nightmare to work with. I wasn't aware someone else ported Orange Box and not Valve themselves, if that is even true. I wouldn't mind playing online Xbox360, PC, and PS3 players. The more the merrier right?

Every copy of a Valve game sold on the 360, Gabe gets a piece of white meat chicken. They couldn't work out the same deal on the PS3. I read that on Kotaku.

As if that would ever happen...

Of course it will never happen, but I still wouldn't mind it if it did. At least Shadow Run allowed PC and Xbox Live players to play together. Why not anyone else?

Even in that horrible game the Xbox players were given an advantage (auto aim) and the PC player were given a disadvantage (lessened accuracy).

Console should never play online with PC gamers. It just not a good matchup.

What IS a good matchup is Xbox vs PS3, but that won't happen due to the companies being assholes to each other.

Auto aim on the console is a must. Needing it on the PC isn't; keyboard/mouse is so much more of an accurate control scheme than controllers. I actually enjoyed Shadowrun, probably because I loved the RPG and the pen and paper d6 game. My friends and I were quite good as a team on that game. I loved the magic meets FPS aspect. I would have welcomed downloadable content and expansions to that title.

My point was not only did they give exceptional autoaim to the 360 people, they actually lowered the accuracy of the PC players while turning. It's a pretty frustrating setup on the PC side, and was a major turnoff for me.

I don't think PC gamers should mingle with the console gamer crowd competitively for FPS games.

I never played the PC version. I just thought they had the absent auto aim the console guys got. Much as I'd prefer more online people to play against, I think it would be a bit unfair for FPS's to mix audiences. Keyboard/Mouse would win consistantly on something like CoD4 or CoD:WaW. I could see more arcade stype FPS being fun for cross platformers. TF2, if consoles ever got the updates, could fit. The Halo series wouldn't be too bad either if any PC gamer played it.

I wished online populations of different consoles could mix. It would help a lot in games where the online population isn't that big, and you could play with friends more easily. It'll never happen though ;(

Yeah, I definitely don't think PCs and consoles should mix competitively. Once of the draws to something like Xbox Live is that everyone is using the same hardware, the environment is more tightly controlled, and cheats aren't an issue (to my knowledge). Now, I think PS3 vs. Xbox 360 versus might be something that could work, and might be a good way to settle shut up some fanboys on both sides.
