Does that mean we can take the 980X you had off your hands for say $300? :awe:

Getting a cpu from Aigo after he's had his way with it is like dating an ex-girlfriend of Ron Jeremy...its been so used and abused by this point that you'd be lucky if that LGA1366 chip would actually fit into a LGA2011 board 😛 😉

That is truly sig worthy.

i heard these chips do 4+ on air @ like a a sick 1.2 vcore.

Which is why i really want one.. but i cant let greed take over or i will lose 2011.

currently she's at 4.378 @ 1.31 vcore passing linX :ninja:

lulz..

the 980X already has flags claiming it from butfungulio and back.

the 990X is a monster.
I cant post anything yet.

But i was playing with it.

@ stock she does 1.19v @ 3.4

with light oc and playing she pulled 4ghz @ 1.2
With more playing and more light voltage, she did 4.3 @ 1.31v

Ummm, get ready for new records, this cpu will break them, in single cpu catigory.
SR-2, well as they say, it takes 2 to tango~

have no clue... u should find it with your 980X.

Anyhow i got the inital OK's.

First off Credit and thanks goes out to my sponsor who once again wishes to keep quiet.
As the cpu is on Loan from him for the review:

So I will start out with this:

My Classified Bios microcode is not updated.
You can see tho in cpuid, it says 990X.

Initially i was just playing with multi alone:

This was tested linX. I didnt take a screenie past this for validation, as i didnt know when i would get the OK.
Validations will be presented to you guys with benchmarks.

As you can see the stepping difference between the 980X below, and 990X above.

Although i think the stepping code is wrong on the 990X, because its showing the identical code to a retail 980X.

Once i get a new bios from eVGA with the updated microcode, i will post another.

I will update with some tests as i complete them this weekend.
You guys are lucky i got the OK. 🙂

AT should be the first with a 990X preview as it was with gulftown. 😀

Anyhow once i get my materials collected, i'll start a new thread, and we can retire this out.

^ LOL putting that thing through the torture chamber already 🙂

That is....yea. I can't wait for the X series SB.

Right, and I'm sure it's perfectly stable.

My 980X shows a stepping of 2 and a revision of B1. Same as above.

Why aren't you using hyperthreading?

I doubt you can see 5.0g 4 core plus cpu stable on air anytime soon. But this is amazing speed even if it's not hyperthreading and it's not stable

awesome clocks! The vcore isnt even that high, if it were a 45 nm at least. I heard the 32 nm chips shouldn't really go over 1.4 V though.

how stable was it at that speed? Could you play games or bench? Or just boot?

Being that its an ES model, and he has no cost in it, I doubt he is worried about longevity.

That brings another point, how much difference will we see between the ES models, and the what is released to sale.
