Rumble (force feedback) from my Controller Freezes games

I'm using a PS2 controller for the PC here via a USB switch (ps2->usb) and it works dandy...except for one thing, when it rumbles (from dual shock) it freezes my whole computer. So that gets annoying. I could disable it, but i want to know if there is another way. I've tried lots of different controller drivers, didn't work. I used a different PS2->usb switch i also have, different brand and everything, and the problem still happened. What could be the cause of this, anyone know?
