Rum Runner flasks..

Read alot of reviews about their effectiveness, all very positive. I plan on filling them up with my favourite spirits, sealing in a large ziplock, and stashing in between clothes. The alcohol prices on the cruise are ridiculous.

Will it work?

Also, I plan on using them to fill up while out on port, because you can put them in your pocket without worrying about the metal detector going off.

Let's hope they don't leak or anything, but I haven't read any negative reviews yet.

I spent $25 for the flasks. I presume I'll be able to reuse them at a later time, perhaps to a sporting event or concert. That helps a bit. The alcohol prices are quite extraordinary, so I figure this plus about $40 worth of liquor from a store is much less than I'd pay at their various bars. I could be wrong. Plus it's fun to be sneaky.

do they check your carry on backpack for alcohol? glass bottles will not set off a metal detector...

meant to say "not set off"

I won't be carrying anything made of glass. I'll be putting these plastic flasks in my check in luggage, in between clothes and such. 🙂

$25?

You can buy a 2L Camelbak bladder for under $10. For $25 you can get a thermal insulated one and keep your rum on ice! 😀

Just bring one of those big 5 gallon sports drink jugs full of alcohol. If they ask just say you like your own water.

Worth a shot, if you're not a moron about it you can pull it off. I would even think about going so far as to go on and off the boat with pants and store shorts in your backpack, that way you can literally boot-leg this.

The price on these is insane and absurd, though. I imagine a good trick would be a camelbak but rig the pack so that there is only a tiny bladder of water and the rest is liqour. Maybe hide the divide between the two with a seam or something.

Smuggling it in shampoo bottles might be effective, but I guarantee you'll feel silly making as rum and coke from a Vidal Sasoon bottle. Plus, are you gonna be drinking from a shampoo bottle in public? If you're just drinking out of a shampoo bottle in your room, what was the point of the cruise to begin with? You could have done that at home.
