I am happy with the new rules. Patrick Roy wouldn't have been half as good without his oversized pads and jersey. Now we can seperate the real goalies from the pretenders and hi speed action and scoring is what will grab people to give the NHL a second chance.

w00t!

I can't wait for hockey to be back.

I just hope they actually enforce the no-obstruction rules, because the last season they said the same thing, & it never happened.

The new shootouts sound good, and I'm glad it is only for regular season games. I agree that the OT in the playoffs is fun to watch.

The only thing I don't like is that there are much more conference games that cross-conference games. Being a Detroit fan, that means we are going to see the likes of Columbus, Nashville, Anaheim, and San Jose more than usual. No offense to those areas but they aren't reall hockey cities yet. I would love to see Detroit move to the East so we would have more games against the Leafs and other teams in the area. Why the hell is Detroit in the West anyways?

Also, I wish they would rename the conferences and divisions back to their old names instead of the generic East-West names.

Other than that I can't wait to watch hockey again.

BOO FOR "Limited puck handling zone for goalies"...
being able to handle the puck well and start fastbreaks etc are what made some goalies stand out and have an even greater impact on the game (Brodeur, etc)

apart from that i like! :)

Definitely... combined with the "elimination" of the center line for a two-line pass should definitely help people see more skating.

I wonder if making the rinks slightly bigger is possibly in the works.

I like the change to the puck handling zone for the goalies ... or stop protecting them when they leave the net. If a goalie wants to play in the corner, fine, but allow players to bodycheck him like anyone else.

Removing the two line pass & thereby eliminating the Trap will make for a smoother flowing, faster game.

Kudos for the rule changes. Negative points for the wastage of a year 'negotiating'.
