I can answer any questions anyone has. Rugby > *.sports :awe:

We just picked up a brand new player -- new, as in he has never played rugby before. Granted, he's like 6'3 and a lean 230lbs. We put him on the wing yesterday and watching him play reminded me of Jonah Lomu. The opposition's wingers were typical scrawny little speed demons, and they were simply outmatched. He didn't get too many carries, unfortunately, because our centers apparently don't like to pass, but he laid some unreal hits, and his few carries were impressively strong.

Some video of Jonah Lomu.

I approve of this thread. 🙂

I play on the wing BTW and I will fit into the category "typical scrawny little speed demons" 😀

thanks, never really knew anything about it. looks much more dynamic and hard-core compared to the american version... and that guy you linked, never heard of him before, looks like a tank

Jonah Lomu is probably the most legendary rugby player of all time. Shame his career was cut short by a kidney disorder.

I've always wanted to play rugby but i am a terrible runner. There is a certain purity that comes from not using padding heh.

Loved rugby when I played it in high school. Not that I am any good at it.
I wish my high school had a rugby program when I was in school. That's easily said in hindsight, though. I didn't play football in high school and I was still pretty skinny when I started playing rugby in college.

Playing in a men's club is awesome, though. When I moved here to Seattle I had literally no friends, so coming out for rugby again was a quick and easy way to make some good ones.

fucking training was a bitch though. We had an Austrian bastard of a coach. fucking one hour of conditioning before we even touch the ball 🙂

Piggyback 400m was his favourite.
