It's pretty easy to solve once you get the hang of it.

I had a friend who showed me how to do in less than two minutes for any standard starting position. He was wicked smart though-- eventually got his PhD from Harvard....

I most deffinitly do not have the hang of it, any quick tips?

Yup. I finished one when I was like 4 I think. I removed all of the stickers and put them back on all matched up :p

WTF, yours had stickers on it? Mine had plastic peices as the colors, so I couldn't cheat. :(

What? Is that the wrong way to do it? I give myself points for figuring out the easiest way to do it :p

there's almost like an algorithm to do it... a bunch of guys from my high school could solve a rubiks in less than a couple minutes... once you do it you just recognize the patterns and it becomes easy and not even a challenge (according to 4 of my old friends). But 12 seconds like that kid in the google video... i dunno about that..

just practice and find a website that shows tips/tricks its not that tough. or find a friend that knows what he's doing my friends showed me how to do it and i had it down after a few days of practice

It seems like its just a simple process repeated over and over, not much thinking involved, memorization of steps i supose?

sorry i didnt see your post above, i said almost what you said over again

There's a standard set of moves that you can do that will allow you to solve the cube however that wouldn't be the fastest way to solve it. The fastest way is to learn the algorithms. If you use the standard moves you'll never finish in under a couple of minutes. Once you learn the algorithms, under a minute isn't impossible.

However, once you learn the moves, it's dead easy.

It's been 12 years since then... but this seems familiar...

I'm sure that world record guy has hundreds of algorithms memorized for seperate permutations. Then it's all about recognizing which one will be the fastest.
