rubber fan screws

Don't bother - and no, Newegg doesn't carry those or any other AFAIK. Those have been a discontinued product for a long time and were crap to begin with - I shoulda been warned by what they called them, now I know who gets the screwin'... See the thread that was here - you may have to use the advanced search as the thread may have slipped into the archives by now. Anyway, skip the Sunbeam (natural rubber) crap (if you can pull them thru your fan's mounting holes w/o breaking them, you are a better man than I, Gunga Din). Believe me I tried everything short of melting them down in solvent and remolding them to get them to work. I did manage to get one in but then I couldn't get it back out after I saw it was futile to ever get the other three in, so I had to cut it off...

Go to jab-tech.com or svc.com or sidewindercomputers.com etc. and get the black or colored silicone or urethane ones - they even have UV sensitive ones. Much better.

P.S. I think Antec sells theirs at the store on their site. They are pretty good but probably expensive. I've forgotten what they charge. .bh. Yes they do: Antec fan pins - $2.99 per set of 4 +sh...

Seconded. Craptastic product. If you really want some, I can send you mine for the cost of postage. I've used the Antec ones from the Super LAN Boy and those were a pleasure to use. I've also used black Nexus brand (from a silencing kit) and those worked well, though tough to get in they never felt like they were going to break when those rubber ones actually tore.

I bought some as well. Not nearly as useful as I thought they would be. I ended up just mounting one fan with them.

the ones G-Y linked only work on open cornered fans. Some of the other sites I mentioned above have the long ones for closed corner fans as well as the short ones for open cornered fans.

I don't think jab-tech.com is so fussy and they'll mail small stuff like that by First Class mail to save you on shipping if you want. And SVC will do it too - look in the "Quiet PC" section.

I recently ordered silicon fan "screws" from SVC $5.99 for set of 8 plus shipping (got it in two days with the cheapest shipping available--priority mail)
http://www.svc.com/afm02b-8.html

I haven't used them to mount a fan yet, put pulled one out of the bag to inspect and they are nice and flexible -- was able to stretch one out quite a ways with no signs of tearing. It should mount the fan quite well.

Too bad you didn't check jab-tech. Or check with me first. You can enter a note when ordering from Jab-Tech asking to have your very small order shipped by First Class mail and aver that you will accept all shipping risks. They may then do that for you - shouldn't cost more than a buck or two (padded envelope cost + postage... I see that SVC only cost you $2.00 for postage. They apparently only sell those name-brand fan pins which is where the extra money is.

Wow, how funny. I was going through an old duffel bag and I found a pack of the Sunbeam rubber fan screws - the exact ones linked in the OP.

I must have had them for years but never used them. I tried them out and they all fell apart when I tried to put it through any holes.

I hope I didn't pay much for these things... oh well.

Damn, I didn't even notice for a while, but when I tried pulling one through and it broke, and I smacked my hand somewhere on the inside of my case.. I got a nice cut on my knuckle.

didn't feel like calling them, you have to do a $4.49 minimum order and honestly if i could have spend $1 and received them in a 39 cent envelope i would have been happy...

oh well, the thread is here for others to enjoy 😉
