Just saw this morning that RtCW:ET has been released. It's a FREE multiplayer game using the RtCW engine/theme. This does NOT require the original RtCW game.

Mirrors:

This game is FUN, I had a blast with the demo. I suggest everyone pick this up. Maybe we can get an AT server going :D

Thanks for the heads up man. Haven't done the online gig since CounterStrike. Addiction started with Multiplayer Battletech and Air Warrior way back in 1996ish and AOL. Ended with 3rd version of CounterStrike. Hehe

I just downloaded and installed it, then proceeded to find a server I could join. There was ONE running, and when I attempted to log on, I was rejected because I did not have a valid CD-key... Interesting considering this is a free download. Oh well, it is free after all, it was bound to have some bugs and quirks. I'll give it another shot later.

I'm not into the RTCW community, but maybe if it came out today, then it'll take a while before you see a bunch of servers running this version?

It was actually released last night, over at the sa forums, they were talking about converting servers for games tonight (5-29).

As far as I know, there's no CD key required. Remember, it's not an add-on to RtCW, it's a standalone game, so you don't need the original to play it.

Edit: OK, just got back from lunch and about 20 min of ET :)

It apparently isn't as laggy as it was before. I couldn't tell, because I had a BT session of RH 9 going, so it was difficult to judge. They've changed the way health/ammo packs look, which is a big help. I had NO trouble finding a server. There's no mention of a CDKey anywhere, I did have to create a player profile before playing, but that came up right away. 6 maps total, 3 eurpoean ones and 3 N. Africa. It'd be nice to see a devkit released so we'd get player created maps, and maybe some future "offical" maps selected by the dev team

I won't really be able to enjoy it until my RH 9 ISo's finish, but it looks good so far:)

I've been checking each day for the last two weeks. Thank you!

I'm going to download this tonight, along with 5-7 of my friends. I'll let you know!

Things to try (add them here)
*Press the "~" after the match has ended. You'll see everyone's stats. You might have to pgup.
*As a covert op you can still the other teams uniform from a dead soldier to get in buildings or get up close to the other team. Just press the action key over a body to steal his uniform.

for those w/the CD key issue (from PB):
I downloaded Enemy Territory and do not have a CD or CDKey ... why do I sometimes see messages about a CDKey?

When playing Enemy Territory over the Internet on PunkBuster enabled servers, PunkBuster will automatically generate a CDKey for you. Most problems with CDKeys in Enemy Territory are caused by copying the game from one computer to another instead of installing from scratch. You can press the tilde key (the ~ key) to bring down the console inside the game and enter the command "/pb_myguid" (without the quotes) and PunkBuster will display your CDKey and the PunkBuster GUID which is used to identify players. Problems or error messages regarding the CDKey in Enemy Territory are best handled by emailing our support staff at support@evenbalance.com.

god, there are soooo many noobs!

For anyone who was playing the beta test, the quality of the games are -really- crappy. I only play on FF servers, and holy crap - people were saying how they couldn't figure out the models (GI v Nazi). The maps are confusing at first, but I made my own server and went through the maps and they are a lot less confusing when no one is teamkilling you.

yeah that will calm down after a little while: the noobs learn, and you find the "l33t" servers that are starting to build a reputation ;) IMO there's a huge difference in most fps games between "ET HOST" type servers and those that are well adminned with a solid community of players. btw that goes both ways, sometimes the excessively l33t sub-communities can be worse than the noobs - at least to some people anyway (the newer l33t word is "nub" btw :p).

I have my best luck downloading stuff from international servers usually. When it's 8pm here, its like 12:30am in england, so there's not as many people online.

There's a bittorrent mirror as well, which is a good way to get it as any. BT rocks for demos like this :)
