RTC functionality test failed?

I received a Dell Latitude D600 to fix and it came with a note filled with the problems it had "Problem: Tons of blue screens, screenz freeze a lot [the alot was emphasized], lagging, fan broke (?), randomly shuts off, thats about it, oh wait, overheats too a ton..."

I went and begun a diagnosis on the laptop and when it was testing the RTC functionality the computer shuts down.

what could the problem be? and what exactly is RTC functionality?

RTC i think stands for Real Time Clock? I'm totally guessing on this but it could be the part of the computer (chip) that keeps track of time...

so basically it's the computer's "internal clock".. cool. By the way the laptop is being sent to Dell to be fixed.
