The Eclipse is a laid back GT. The RSX is a full blown pocket rocket...what the Eclipse USED to be before it hit middle-age.

I prefer RSX too, however there are 2 thing I don't like about it.

1) It's only I4 (hence it's probably noisy)
2) You need to rev up the engine for max power.

if you need car NOW, get the RSX. i'm waiting for the new Z to arrive during the summer of 2002.

i own an eclipse GT. for regular in-traffic gettup and go, the GT has A TON more useable power/torque and will spank the RSX. racingwise, the RSX weighs 400lbs less and revs much higher. that, and the RSX's fit and finish is much better.

i don't like the way the RSX looks externally. it reminds of of the new civic. i like the interior, but not the exterior.

the RSX is ugly. It looks like a civic humped a sunfire and this is the bastard child of that union.

If you're limiting yourself to those two cars, I would go with the RSX... Honda's reliability plays a part here (I own a 1992 Mitsubishi Eclipse and its had a lot of problems. I dont really know the reliability of 3rd gen Eclipse's but I think Honda's had a better track record than Mitsubishi).

Might want to consider the Subaru WRX as well, around the same price range as an RSX Type S I think.

if you know anyone over 5'5" tall, stay away from the eclipes. they are waaay too tiny.

Get a WRX :)

or the New 2002s S2000 or IS 300

I don't the RSX looks all that great either, but I really don't care for the looks of the Eclipse... I like a little "cleaner" design, I guess.

Given the choice, I'd pick RSX. It's an affordable Honda S2000. I don't like the looks of the eclipse and it's not much of a sports car, imho.
