RS232 question

I am planning on building a small form factor PC but it will need RS232. I don't know for sure if there will be room for an add on card for the RS232. Is there a usb to RS232? If so, will it work as good as an add on card?

Yes, and yes. I use lots of them. The advantage of an addon card is that
1) They usually have more than one port.
2) They never forget their COM port assignment. USB to serial adapters do easily "forget" their assigned port number, which could cause minor trouble down the road when you find that one day your software no longer works because it is set to COM4 but the USB serial port reset itself to COM1 or COM3 or COM5. It's really no big deal as long as you keep this potential in mind.

I use USB to serial all the time at work for jacking into the console ports of switches and storage. They work great for that purpose.
