Hi,

I just read the thread below and saw someone mention there is no Hardware Encoding on 8500DV. If that's true... why are we waiting for 8500DV???
I mean... I thought all AIW have hardware encoding or some sort... now I am really confused on what's good about 8500DV, if I can buy 8500 + DC10+ which offer Hardware encoding.

No hardware encoding is a bit of a misnomer, it has hardware YUV encoding, but uses software for MPEG encoding.

The DC10 does MJPEG encoding, not MPEG encoding, so you are comparing apples to oranges. I don't believe it even has support for Win2k or WinXP, so your out of luck if your wanting NTFS and support for large files.

The Radeon's Rage Theater offers higher resolution and Data Rate than the DC10 as well. I would check the features of a variety of cards and match that to what you want to accomplish. Remember there is a lot to PC Video, there are a lot of variables to consider. In many ways the 8500DV will be superior to the 8500 with a DC10, but perhaps not in the way that would benefit your particular situation.
